Portfolio manager Alex Odd has joined chartered financial planning firm Fairstone Group.

He will take on joint ownership of the group’s portfolio management alongside Oliver Stone. The move coincides with Stone’s promotion from Group Head of Research to Portfolio Manager.

Odd spent over 20 years with M&G and Jupiter where he managed in excess of £2bn in client assets. Stone joined the Fairstone team as Group Head of Research in 2012 and currently sits on the firm’s investment and asset allocation committees.

Odd and Stone take on these combined responsibilities with effect from tomorrow. This enables Mark Woods to relinquish his management duties after serving six years as Investment Strategy Officer. Woods is returning to lead his Watermark Wealth Management business as the firm gears up for acquisition by Fairstone in 2018.

Fairstone Chief Executive Lee Hartley said: “We are delighted to welcome Alex to the team, I have no doubt that his experience of successfully managing assets for some of the UK’s leading fund houses will be of great benefit to Fairstone and can only strengthen our proposition.

“Oliver has been an integral part of our investment management team for some time now and it is great to see his commitment to the firm recognised with this promotion.

“I would also like thank Mark Woods, who conceptualised and launched our range of model portfolios in 2008, for his contribution to Fairstone over the past six years. Mark has played a leading role in developing our portfolios to the position they are in today and I look forward to continuing to work with him in his Watermark capacity.”
