Canada Life has announced the retirement of Ian Gilmour from his position as Executive Vice-President and General Manager of Canada Life, UK Division, with effect from the end of May, and his replacement by Douglas Brown, currently Chief Operating Officer of the UK Division. Mr Brown joined Canada Life in 2012 from AVIVA Europe, where he was Chief Risk Officer, and before that from AIG in the UK, where he had been General Manager of the ALICO UK branch.

Ian Gilmour’s 17-year involvement with Canada Life saw Canada Life become a leading player in the annuity market, a  leading Group Risk provider and – through Canada Life International – the leading provider of Offshore Investment Bonds. He will retain a number of non-executive roles with the organisation going forward.
