The 8th Heat Recruitment Charity Golf Day was a great success, with 72 golfers taking part and raising over £1000 for the chosen charity Fareshare.

The golfers were a mix of people from professional services, engineering and IT Sectors.

Steve Preston, Managing Director of Bristol-based Heat Recruitment, was full of admiration for his guests and IFA Magazine can claim some success, with its publisher Alex Sullivan part of the second-placed team.

A focused Alex is pictured below holing a 25 yard putt, after which he was heard to say: “I’ll take that.”

I’ll let Heat explain the day itself: “Once again, competition was fierce and it took a momentous effort from the team made up of Dave Dewey, Terry Parkins, Kevin Radbourne and Adrian Tyrell to win the day and snatch victory away from the chasing pack.  The runners up; Alex Sullivan, Adam Jordan, Chris Ross and Stuart Henry were just pipped to the post over the final few holes.

“Other notable mentions must go to Chris Holland who retained his title for the Longest Drive and Kevin Radbourne who has one of his finest days on the golf course adding a Nearest the Pin title to his overall winner’s trophy.  On the golf simulator, the Higos boys battled it out, only for Neil to sneak the win on his second attempt by a foot over Julian.  All golf days need a little controversy!

“Additionally, Ted Hinks played what would have been the shot of the day when he drove his tee shot straight into his own golf bag with his ball ricocheting off and disappearing into the waist high grass – bet you couldn’t do that again if you tried! However, he was over-shadowed by Charlie Bending who shanked his first tee shot, decided to tee off a provisional – which found the hole – A hole in one but from the 2nd tee shot – so no cigar on this occasion.

“On the day, we raised over £1000 for our chosen charity Fareshare (http://www.fareshare.org.uk)

“Andy Street from Fareshare explained to the assembled group that the charity saves good food destined for waste and sends it to charities and community groups who transform it into nutritious meals for vulnerable people.  Creating circa 29 million meals per annum.”

People are now looking forward to the 9th Heat Recruitment Charity Golf Day next year.
