Mark Pearson is the Founder and Managing Partner of Fuel Ventures, the early-stage investor in disruptive scalable technology companies.

Mark is the entrepreneur behind My Voucher Codes, the UK’s largest consumer website for vouchers and discount codes, which he exited in 2014, as the sole shareholder, for £44m.

During his entrepreneurial journey, Mark began investing in early stage companies, which lead to further successes. One example is after five years invested in Paddle, Mark exited with a seventeen times return.

Fuel Ventures’ Scale-up Fund is one of the most reputable and popular EIS funds in the UK, with around three hundred investee applicants a month. First launched in 2015, it averages ten investments a year.

In this conversation, Mark details his personal journey as an entrepreneur, and how his experience shaped his approach to early stage investing.

In this video Mark also discusses his hands-on approach, sitting on the board of each company Fuel invests in. Every year Mark matches 10% of the funding deployed into the companies in Fuel’s EIS fund, and challenges any other fund manager to do the same.
