Mayfair Capital Investment Management, the specialist UK real estate investment manager wholly owned by Swiss Life Asset Managers, has hired Christi Vosloo as head of ESG, UK.

Vosloo, who joined the business in mid-August, will play a key role in ensuring implementation of the ESG strategy at Mayfair Capital, whilst working closely with the ESG team at Swiss Life and further embedding sustainability considerations across the business through its transactions, developments, refurbishments, and operations.

Prior to joining Mayfair Capital, Vosloo was an associate director at Jones Lang LaSalle in London where she advised clients on the development and implementation of ESG strategies. Vosloo was responsible for the climate risk management and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) service, supporting clients with climate risk assessment, management, and disclosure. Vosloo has extensive experience supporting real estate clients on ESG and sustainability reporting, as well as the implementation of comprehensive strategies that address material issues such as environmental performance, climate resilience, health and wellbeing, tenant liaison and social/community engagement.

Mayfair Capital and Swiss Life Asset Managers recognise the critical role that ESG plays in protecting value, building resilience, and ensuring long-term and stable returns. Mayfair Capital is committed to managing its funds in a responsible way by integrating ESG criteria, including risk factors and financial metrics, into its disciplined investment process.

Vosloo will support Mayfair Capital’s thematic approach, which prioritises ESG considerations and seeks to ensure its buildings are aligned with occupational demand both now and in the future through a proprietary asset scoring model that grades each asset according to five core themes: i) change & disruption; ii) climate & environment; iii) communities & clustering; iv) consumers & lifestyle and v) connectivity.

Giles King, chief executive of Mayfair Capital, said: “Christi brings a wealth of ESG experience and skills and joins us in a crucial role for our business, which will be advantageous for our clients as we confront the increasing reality of climate change and its impact on the built environment.”

Valérie de Robillard, head of ESG real assets at Swiss Life Asset Managers, said: “We are pleased to welcome Christi into our cross-border ESG team. Swiss Life Asset Managers and its clients will benefit from Christi’s track record in the industry and personal commitment to making the difference in the sustainable future-proofing of real estate.”

Christi Vosloo, head of ESG, UK at Mayfair Capital, said: “There is immense momentum and understanding of the importance of ESG within the real estate sector and the pivotal role it has in mitigating climate change. I look forward to building upon the strong ESG foundations at Mayfair Capital and advancing the ambitions over the coming years.”
