A new entry-level health insurance product has been launched onto the market by Bupa UK.

Called Bupa Fundamental Health Insurance, the lower-cost option is now being sold to customers through intermediaries. Bupa say that Switch Terms will also be offered, allowing customers to switch from a personal scheme carrying over their existing underwriting and exclusions. It will also be available for employees leaving competitor group corporate schemes.

Bupa reckon there’s a growing demand for entry level health insurance, a view backed up by research which discovered that 37% of Generation X would be more likely to have private health insurance if it was more affordable.

Director at Bupa UK Richard Norris said: “We know that cost is one of the main barriers that stops people using private healthcare, which is why we are committed to developing new products and services that suit a variety of budgets, making quality healthcare more affordable and accessible to more people.

“We are delighted to be launching Bupa Fundamental Health Insurance and working with intermediaries to help more people enjoy the benefits of health insurance.”
