Nuveen, the $1 trillion global investment manager of TIAA, has appointed Rachel Green as Vice President, Director of Institutional Sales, within the UK International Advisory Services (IAS) team.

Green will be responsible for developing relationships with UK institutional investors across pension funds, insurance firms and charities as well as investment consultants and other advisors. She will report into Chris Leak, Head of UK International Advisory Services, bringing the IAS UK team to a total of six.

Green has more than a decade of experience within institutional sales, working with asset owners and stakeholders on both the liability and asset sides. In addition to her most recent role as Associate Director of Institutional Sales at Aviva Investors, Green has held positions at reinsurer Munich Re and Russell Investments.

Whilst at Aviva Investors, Green sat on the Aviva Group Board Evolution Council as one of twelve future leaders responsible for advising the Aviva Group Board on strategic issues. Rachel is a co-founder of #talkaboutblack, the ethnicity workstream of the Diversity Project and a Diversity Project Ambassador. In June 2020, she was awarded the Freedom of the City for her work in campaigning for greater ethnic diversity in the asset management industry.

Chris Leak, Head of UK International Advisory Services, said: “Rachel brings a wealth of experience with her and we are thrilled to have her on board. She will play a key role in continuing to grow our investment and distribution capabilities in the UK to meet the increased interest from UK and European investors.

“The challenges to find risk adjusted yield have only risen following tough market conditions in 2020. Now more than ever, investors across the world wish to partner with like-minded managers with a proven track record to help them meet their long-term goals. Rachel’s relationship management skills are greatly welcomed as we expand our client partnerships in the UK and beyond across our broad investment platform.”

This appointment follows tremendous success for the International Advisory Service team in 2020, increasing AUM by 23%, positioning Nuveen to best serve its clients in 2021.  The firm collectively serves approximately 400 institutional clients in the EMEA region across a wide range of investors including pension funds, insurance companies, sovereign wealth funds, banks and family offices. The firm offers a wide range of separate accounts, commingled fund and UCITS strategies to investors across a wide range of liquid and illiquid alternative strategies such as real estate, real assets (farmland, timber, infrastructure), private equity and debt, in addition to both traditional and fixed income assets.
