Praetura Ventures has joined forces with Manchester Tech Festival to sponsor and curate this year’s Scale Up Track, which promises a series of talks focused on growing the early-stage ecosystem through tech investment, networking and local initiatives.

The Manchester-headquartered venture capital investor, which has invested in leading local scale-ups such as Peak AI, Modern Milkman, BankiFi and Arctic Shores, will book and oversee a full roster of guest speakers, including founders and investors from across Manchester and the surrounding regions, when the event returns to Victoria Baths in October.

David Foreman, managing partner at Praetura Ventures, added: “Manchester has one of the most exciting tech scenes in the world right now and we, as investors, have a duty of care to ensure the city’s ecosystem is as attractive as possible to new founders to keep up the momentum. We need to inspire future generations of founders to scale a business from this city.

“To be sponsoring and curating the Manchester Tech Festival scale up track is a great privilege. It’s an event I’ve been lucky to speak at before and we loved the atmosphere last year. In 2023, we want build on its previous success to help make the MTF programme one of the most engaging events of the year.”

Amy Newton, founder and festival director of the Manchester Tech Festival, said: “Our ambition has always been to work closely with ecosystem champions who, alongside their own work, go above and beyond to ensure Manchester’s tech scene is on the map. Praetura Ventures is one of those ecosystem champions, and we’re incredibly glad to have them on board as a track sponsor.”

The week-long event is also backed by founding partners Money Supermarket Group, Booking.com, Morson Group, Venturi and BJSS. The programme will be supported by Manchester City Council, the Department for International Trade and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Digital Security Hub (DiSH) and other local organisations.

Previous speakers have also included Sherelle Fairweather, Digital Strategy Lead at Manchester City Council; Chris Northwood, author of The Full Stack Developer; and Nick Woods, CIO of MAG.

Manchester Tech Festival will take place between 30th October – 3rd November 2023 and will be supported by over 40+ lead up events including panel discussions, speaker sessions and networking events.
