Seccl, the Octopus-owned custodian and platform technology provider, has further reinforced its senior leadership team, with the hire of Adam Jones as its first Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Jones will be responsible for shaping Seccl’s future technology vision, with executive accountability for all aspects of the company’s engineering, data and information security functions.

He joins from investment consultancy Redington, where he served as CTO and Executive Director, as well as Managing Director of Ada Fintech, the firm’s portfolio management, research and governance platform. Prior to Redington, Jones spent five years at Altus (most recently as Head of Innovation) and FNZ.

Passionate about innovation and supporting financial inclusion, Jones also serves as an Advisory Board Member to the Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance at the University of the West of England, and a Trustee at the financial education organisation RedSTART.

Adam Jones, incoming CTO of Seccl, shared: “I am thrilled to be joining the team at Seccl. Having started to get to know the business, it is clear to me that Seccl represents the change this industry needs – and is in a position to capitalise on its fantastic people, market leading technology, and forward-thinking customer base.

“Investment platforms can and should be game changing for consumers and wealth businesses alike, but all too often legacy tech or cumbersome change programmes lead to their value being diluted or lost all together. I’ve spent most of my career trying to get better outcomes for retail investors by improving the infrastructure of our industry, and I’m excited to bring my experience of growing and scaling awesome development teams and technology platforms to the firm. I can’t wait to get started.”

David Ferguson, CEO of Seccl, commented: “I’ve been harbouring hopes of recruiting Adam as our CTO for a while now – and although we met a huge number of high-quality candidates for this role, his combination of deep industry experience and irrepressible enthusiasm made him stand out from the crowd. As well as being a thought leader with a proven track record for driving innovation within our market, he is also a fantastic team leader with an infectious belief in the role that technology can play in empowering financial inclusion.

“We are not short on ambition here at Seccl and Adam will be instrumental as we attempt to extend our competitive advantage and deliver on the growing market interest in what we’re building – and I’m incredibly excited to work with him.”

Jones is the latest in a series of senior hires announced by Seccl in 2022, including Farzana Khalil as Chief Customer Officer, Kirsty Lynagh as Chief People Officer and, not least, David Ferguson as its new CEO.
