The FCA has appointed Jonathan Davidson as the new Director of Supervision – Retail and Authorisations. He takes up the post in the autumn.
Davidson will move alongside Tracey McDermott, currently Director of Supervision – Investment, Wholesale and Specialist. Davidson’s position was created as a result of the FCA’s new strategic approach and, say the FCA, reflects the fact that they now supervise over 73,000 firms.
Currently Davidson is a senior advisor to private equity and financial services firms. He is also a member of Jardine Lloyd Thompson’s Strategic Advisory Group.
Before that he was Chief Operating Officer with Direct Line (2010 to 2012). Between 1986 and 2009 he worked for McKinsey & Company, holding several positions including Financial Services Practice Leader in Canada; Wholesale Banking Practice Leader in Europe and in North America, and Global Learning Leader of McKinsey’s Organisation Practice.
