Succession, one of the UK’s largest independent financial planning and wealth management groups, today announces it has appointed Andrew Barker to the position of Director of Proposition.

In his role, Andrew will be responsible for making further enhancements to Succession’s proposition across several key areas including platform, investment strategy, use of technology and the protection and mortgage offering. Crucially, Andrew will also lead on communicating these changes and the unique benefits they bring to Succession’s 180 financial planners, 600 staff and over 17,000 clients. In addition, he will also be responsible for the company’s hugely successful Independent Schools and Employee Benefits businesses, along with the firm’s brand marketing.

Barker is a highly experienced financial services professional with over 20 years’ experience and a proven track record in developing and enhancing advice propositions in a D2C environment. He joins Succession from Standard Life where, as the Head of Advice Proposition & Delivery for the Digital Retirement Advice business, he developed a streamlined proposition focused on providing retirement advice through digital media for clients. He has previously held senior roles at multiple leading financial services institutions including Prudential, Lloyds Banking Group and Bank of Scotland.

Peter Coleman, Chief Commercial Officer, said: “Andrew’s experience and excellent track record in this area complements our focus on continuing to place the client at the heart of all that we do and supports the evolving needs of our clients. The quality of our proposition has always been an important differentiator. However, with someone like Andrew at the helm, we will do more to make our offering even more compelling for planners, clients, future clients, and for the firms that we acquire.”

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew Barker said: “Succession is unique in so many ways, but it has always been known for embracing the very best people and technology and offering a superior client experience. This appealed to me and I am looking forward to working with Peter and the wider planner community to strengthen the proposition – building Succession’s reputation as a clear leader in our profession.”
