The British Design Fund (BDF) launches its First Evergreen Fund

The British Design Fund (BDF) announces the opening of its sixth fund (BDF6) to investors and the first Evergreen Fund. It will seek to continue championing the very best of British innovation, invention and engineering, from the UK’s most promising product design and manufacturing start-ups.

The BDF remains the only venture fund dedicated to investing in and exclusively supporting early-stage product design and manufacturing businesses based in the UK.

John Mathers, BDF’s Chairman, said:

“The volume of applications we are now receiving means it makes sense to have our first Evergreen Fund. This fund means that we will be able to offer funding all year round to support those really early-stage enterprises which are going to be the backbone of British manufacturing in the future. With some thirty businesses already in the portfolio we are looking to double that in the next couple of years. This fund gives investors the opportunity to join with us on that journey.”

The BDF has currently raised almost £5 million since launch, investing in businesses covering a range of sectors and it and continues to offer the first step on the ladder to early stage product and manufacturing businesses.

The British Design Fund has the support of a team of design experts and manufacturing entrepreneurs including Sir John Rose, former CEO of Rolls Royce, Will Hobhouse, former CEO of Tie-Rack and Whittard of Chelsea, Luke Johnson, former Chairman of Channel 4 and PizzaExpress, together with a number of high profile family offices who are also investors in the fund.
