The top 20 most viewed investment trusts

The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has published a list of the 20 most viewed investment trusts on its website theaic.co.uk during 2025.

Income is the dominant theme. Half (ten) of the 20 most viewed investment trusts are AIC dividend heroes, having increased their dividends for at least 20 years in a row. Four more trusts belong to the next generation of dividend heroes that have increased dividends for at least ten years but less than 20.

Ten of the 20 most viewed trusts are from the equity income sectors. Five of these are focused on UK equity income, including the most viewed trust City of London Investment Trust, four on global equity income and one on Asia Pacific equity income. There are also two high yielding trusts from the infrastructure sectors and one debt trust. The average yield of the 20 most viewed trusts is 4.2%, compared to 3.2% for the average investment trust.

The Global sector accounts for five trusts on the list, there is one Europe trust, and one from the Commodities & Natural Resources sector.

New entrants

There are five new entrants to the top 20 list. Invesco Global Equity Income Trust is the highest-ranked new entrant in 9th place. The other new entrants are Temple Bar Investment Trust (15th), JPMorgan European Growth & Income (17th), TwentyFour Income Fund (18th) and International Public Partnerships (19th).

Annabel Brodie-Smith, Communications Director of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC), said: “As interest rates come down it’s no surprise that investors are seeking investment trusts with long track records of dividend growth to meet their income needs. Although dividends are never guaranteed, one of the many benefits of investment trusts is their ability to pay dividend income to investors even during tough times.

“The AIC’s website provides lots of helpful information on investment trusts, from performance and portfolio holdings to discount data, making it easy for investors to do their research on trusts they own or might like to buy. Investors can also grab the latest factsheet or annual report from our website, rather than sifting through multiple web pages to find it.”
