Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB) today announced the release of its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting efforts undertaken by FPSB and its global network of organizations to strengthen the global financial planning profession through standards, CFP certification, research, collaboration and public awareness.
“Our 2025 Annual Report reflects a year of meaningful progress for FPSB and our global network to advance the global financial planning profession through rigorous standards, collaboration and innovation,” said FPSB CEO Dante De Gori, CFP. “From growing the CFP professional community and exploring the role of AI in practice to advancing public awareness and professional development, our work in 2025 was focused on helping the profession remain trusted, relevant and future-ready.”
Key highlights include:
- Strong demand for CFP certification
- The global CFP professional community reached 236,300 across 29 territories in 2025, reflecting continued demand for competent, ethical and client-centered financial planning advice.
- More than 32,500 candidates sat for CFP certification exams worldwide in 2025.
- Growing appeal of CFP certification among younger and more diverse professionals, as 62.1% of those who achieved CFP certification in 2025 were under the age of 40 and 37.9% were female.
- AI’s impact on financial planning
- FPSB’s global research findings on the Impact of AI on Financial Planning, based on input from more than 6,200 financial planners worldwide, revealed how AI is enhancing efficiencies, improving client service and creating new opportunities for those who have traditionally lacked access to essential financial planning guidance.
- Driving excellence through standards and education
- Modernized expectations for the practice of financial planning to reflect evolving client needs through updated FPSB Global Financial Planning Standards that took effect on 1 January 2025.
- Provided educational resources and practical guidance to help financial planners apply the new knowledge domain on the psychology of financial planning and integrate principles of psychology and human behavior into financial planning.
- Global collaboration, advocacy and public awareness
- Advocacy and engagement with global regulators, including IOSCO, to represent the voice of the global financial planning profession.
- Public outreach raising awareness of the value of financial planning through initiatives like the ninth annual World Financial Planning Day, celebrated in 22 territories.
- Global collaboration among FPSB’s network of organizations to strengthen and advance the financial planning profession.
