Etcho is ushering in a new era of investing for advisers and their clients with the launch of its personalisation technology, revolutionising how clients experience investment management.
Etcho began by helping advisers enrich their advice through client profiling and streamlining the suitability process with personalised portfolio insights – providing clarity on how recommendations fit each client’s profile and sustainability preferences. It has now launched its personalised portfolio technology – radically transforming how investment portfolios are built and delivered.
Personalised portfolios have typically been seen as an expensive and time-consuming service that advisers can only offer to their highest value clients. As a technology-first firm, Etcho has created efficiencies that have historically made this level of personalisation difficult for traditional Discretionary Fund Managers to deliver. Using Etcho’s platform, advisers can now offer their clients professionally managed, fully personalised and adjustable portfolios at the click of a few buttons, as easily as selecting an off-the-shelf model, and accessible to all clients regardless of the shape and size they come in.
Using Etcho, firms can confidently engage clients in more meaningful conversations, knowing that the solution offered is aligned not just to risk profile, but also to each client’s unique values and interests. The platform sets clear guardrails to ensure portfolios remain within the client’s risk profile and target asset allocation.
The Etcho platform also seamlessly produces personalised factsheets, robust copy for suitability reports, and engaging reports and storytelling dashboards for clients, ensuring there is no additional workload for advisers in delivering a truly personalised, high-quality client experience.
The technology is not exclusively used for Etcho portfolios. Firms can also use the platform to assess market-wide opportunities and existing models within their CIP, instantly seeing how different portfolios align to a client’s profile, values and preferences – providing an unbiased view.
Etcho Founders, Charlie French and Liall Medina say: “We consistently hear the same problems from advisers. They want to offer a truly personalised service to their clients, particularly those with strong values and preferences, but most investment managers simply don’t have the flexibility to deliver that for the majority of clients. As a result, many firms avoid conversations around client preferences altogether, because they’re nervous about opening a ‘can of worms’ and not being able to deliver what the client actually wants.
We’re putting an end to that. Etcho enables advisers to deliver a cost-effective, personalised investment service that genuinely matches each client’s investor profile, while providing a repeatable, scalable process to ensure client values are properly reflected. It’s as easy as selecting a model portfolio off the shelf, but unique to each client”
The team have emphasised that this is just the start of the journey for Etcho “This is just the very start for us as we look to completely rethink the investment process, hugely reducing costs and massively increasing the level of personalisation available for those that want it, all in an easy to use format for the adviser market. 2026 will see some huge enhancements”.
8 AM Global is the regulated model portfolio manager overseeing the portfolios. Ash Weston, Head of MPS, said, ‘Using Etcho’s technology is a complete game changer for clients seeking a clearer understanding of how their values align with their investments. We’ve always prided ourselves on our use and focus on the latest technology. In partnership with Etcho, we can offer adviser firms seamless client personalisation, alongside truly exceptional service.
Nick Smith of Somerset Wealth Management says: “Etcho provides a clear, practical and relatable way to discuss a client’s sustainable values and to reflect those values within a tilted model portfolio. It adds genuine depth to conversations by giving advisers evidence-led insight that clients cannot easily access on their own. By clearly linking investment selection to the values discussion, it becomes a compelling proposition, and with competitive pricing, it integrates cleanly into a Centralised Investment Proposition.”
Dan Old of Greenspace Financial Planning says, “Etcho has transformed how we think about the investment experience for clients. It allows us to properly understand our clients and offer solutions around them, rather than forcing them into generic models. It’s easy to use and fits squarely into the advice process. It feels like the future of advice.”
The Etcho team has a number of major updates planned for the platform this year, further increasing the level of personalisation available to firms and embedding the technology more deeply across the advice journey. Alongside this, Etcho is also launching an end-to-end targeted support engine to support firms looking to deliver guidance and targeted support at scale, as the FCA’s new framework comes into force.
