I think if it’s possible we are even busier than usual for this time of year. You will have noticed we took a different approach in January to bring you individual detailed coverage in separate reports for SEIS, EIS, VCT and BR/IHT authored by our friend and colleague Tony Catt. These will be combined in our annual Tax Efficiency Research Report which will be published in a couple of weeks time.

We hope you found this useful and are enjoying the insights, particularly topical and timely as they are in the lead up to tax year end. It seemed like we blinked, and January was over.

This Month’s Insights

The Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA) is encouraging businesses that have benefitted from EIS and SEIS investment to become members of the Association. They believe this will ensure a greater number of start-ups benefit from the advice and support they and other members can offer.

Downing’s Mark Gross gives his outlook on the year ahead, assessing the emerging themes in health and social care investment which have been accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Octopus explain the process of planning for inheritance tax within an ISA wrapper, provided you’re a professional adviser or paraplanner. They consider the risks and rewards of this long-term investment.

For those of you who might have missed we are including a special write up of the excellent discussion from the webinar we hosted in December. Chaired by Martin Fox it featured Jeffrey Faustin from Jenson Funding Partners’, Dr Brian Maretta from Hardman & Co and Andrew Castell from Par Equity. You can listen to it in full as it is available to download here.

As we reflect on 2022, Oxford Capital’s David Mott provides a year in review and discusses which areas founders should prioritise in 2023.

As ever, we love to hear from you but for now enjoy the read.
