L&G today announces the launch of Spark, in partnership with Spectrum. Life. A single sign-on app, Spark is designed to help businesses grow, by helping their people thrive. Accessible via phone, laptop or desktop, Spark brings together all L&G’s health and wellbeing services – which includes some new ones – under one roof, extending them to entire workforces and their immediate families. It has been created to make preventative health and wellbeing simple, personalised and inclusive, says L&G.
Simple & personalised: one app, every service, guided journeys
Spark allows for seamless access to all the preventative services associated with L&G’s Group Life, Group Income Protection and Group Critical Illness products.
The app also includes guided navigation via an intelligent booking system (MatchTech). This assesses symptoms to get users to the right care, faster.
Inclusive: essential health & wellbeing for entire workforces and their immediate families
Thanks to Spark, L&G’s health and wellbeing services are now available to all employees and their immediate families.1 This is regardless of chosen Group Protection product or percentage of workforce covered.
These services include:
- 24/7 in-the-moment support through the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- 24/7 access to a General Practitioner (GP) or Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
- Online Physiotherapy (8am – 8pm, Monday to Friday)
- Children’s and young people’s mental health assessments and support
- Second Medical Opinion on a diagnosis or treatment, providing peace of mind
- Support with long-term conditions like type 2 diabetes, stroke, multiple sclerosis, long covid, and rheumatoid arthritis
- A rich source of wellbeing resources – nutrition planning, fitness tracking, self-guided meditation, wellbeing podcasts and digital gym
- Adult and elder care – support understanding, finding and funding adult care services
- Expert financial and legal information service through dedicated helplines
Enhanced: even more services and support added at no extra cost
The launch of Spark has further enhanced L&G’s wellbeing support for employees and their immediate families: cancer awareness and support; plus, two new pathways – heart health and menopause – added to long-term condition support.
- Cancer awareness and nurse support: Helping plug critical gaps in care from prevention through to survivorship, Spark offers access to cancer risk assessments and digital programmes for risk reduction and screening. Also, personalised practical, physical and emotional support from experienced cancer nurses available through chat and 1-2-1 virtual clinics. This service is provided by L&G’s existing cancer vocational rehabilitation programme partner Perci Health, the only provider backed by Macmillan Cancer Support. The addition of this new service comes against the backdrop of decreasing cancer screening attendance in the UK and increasing incidence of cancer in the working age population.
- Support for heart health and menopause: These two new pathways have been added to the long-term condition support provided by CONNECTPlus, from HCI. This app, which helps people self-manage their conditions, was co-designed with NHS clinicians and patients and is used in various NHS Foundation Trusts. Usage of the app can also help better inform GP and specialist consultations, paving the way for precise and personalised interventions. It can also be used by HR and Line Managers to better understand chronic conditions and their impact on life and work, so they can better support employees. This includes making reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act 2010.
James Walker, Head of Product & Proposition – Group Protection, L&G: “I’m excited to introduce Spark to the market. It’s an incredibly slick and comprehensive one-stop-shop that uses the latest user journey guidance technology to get people to the service they need, fast and effectively. Thanks to Spark, we can now extend our amazing prevention and early intervention support – plus some valuable new ones – to workforces and their immediate families.
“This will bring positive benefits to everyone. For individuals, helping empower them to further manage their own health and wellbeing. For employers, helping reduce absence and presenteeism while improving satisfaction. For government, helping support latest Keep Britain Working goals. And for society, in terms of fair access to essential support – improving health outcomes and reducing pressure on public health services.”
Stephen Costello, CEO and Co-Founder, at Spectrum.Life: “We’re not just improving access to healthcare – we are rebuilding it for the way people live and work today. Partnering with L&G on the launch of Spark is very exciting for us. Through Spark we are transforming the way employees – where their employer has an L&G Group Protection policy – access mental health and primary care services and get instant access to trusted clinical support, making high-quality care just a click away.
