Congratulations to all those who took part the second annual Vanguard Tough Mudder Takeover on Friday 20th September in Faygate, West Sussex.
Over 1,000 brave participants came together from across the financial advice and financial services industry for the event which was hosted by Vanguard, taking on a 5km run and 18 of Tough Mudder’s signature teamwork-inspired obstacles.
Participants had the option to “compete” or “complete”, with teams running to build team spirit, level up their fitness, and raise money for their charities of choice.
Ben Parkhurst from Tees won the individual prize, completing the course in c. 40 mins, an impressive time on a course with an average completion time of nearly two hours. Raymond James took first place among discretionary fund managers (DFMs), while a confidently neon clad Ascot Lloyd team stormed to the title of “Best Dressed”. Baillie Gifford walked away as “Best of the North”, with Concept Financial Planning carrying off the title as “Best in South”. In a highly competitive category, the FT Adviser team walked away as the first placed publisher.
Vanguard first launched the event in 2023 as a fun, healthy, and collaborate way of highlighting its “active” history. Vanguard has been a proponent of high-quality, low-cost active funds since its founding in 1975 and partners with best-in-class fund managers from around the world, across it’s suite of high-quality, low-cost funds. Vanguard was delighted to be joined by teams from many of these partners on the day, including Wellington, Baillie Gifford, Pzena and Schroders.
Doug Abbott, Head of UK Client Group, Vanguard said:
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to all of those who took part in the day – both returning Tough Mudders and first timers. It was great to see people from across generations and all corners of the industry challenging themselves on the course and helping each other to reach the finish line.”
“Friday was all about teamwork, camaraderie and the tenacity to complete a difficult task – stay the course! What could be more Vanguard than that.”
