City Hive announces winner of the Fearless Woman Photography Competition – showcasing female investors

On International Women’s Day today, City Hive, the think tank and advocacy group, announces the winner of the Fearless Woman photography competition. And what a perfect day it is to showcase female investors!

Nicolette DiMaggio, Co-Director Research at WTW, submitted a winning photo which stood out from other entries.

City Hive launched its Fearless Woman Photography Competition in October 2023 to create a dynamic bank of photographic assets to better represent what a female investor is or could be. The group were looking for relatable, expressive, inspiring photographs that gave a truly balanced view of the modern investor – 50 years after the first women was allowed to gain access to the London Stock Exchange floor.

Bev Shah, CEO and Co-Founder of City Hive said: “We wanted to create a new bank of modern photography which truly reflects today’s and tomorrow’s investors and were delighted by the response to the competition. By sharing these images via ‘Unsplashed’ we have started the conversation and encourage others to now add to the image bank to help those creating campaigns to better represent real investors.”

Nicolette has also launched a new book called ‘Stock Explore’ which aims to educate children ages 7+ on the principles of financial literacy.

The judges’ comments and reasons for voting for Nicolette included:

Kalpana Fitzpatrick, Digital Editor of MoneyWeek and author commented: “This picture showed confidence and power and why investing means you do not have to worry about buying nice coffee or giving up on the things that give you joy, because you are financially secure.”

Heidi Ridley, Co-Founder and CEO of RadiantESG commented: “Teaching financial literacy and the fact that she wrote the book is fantastic.”

Davinia Tomlinson, Founder of rainchq commented: “As a newly published author myself, specifically targeting young women and girls, I am a massive fan of financial education in any form, but especially books, for this group.”

The competition formed part of the City Hive Fearless Woman Campaign, a year-long campaign celebrating the 50th Year of Women investing.
