New research has revealed the UK counties that produce the most Premium Bonds winners.
The study, from Bitz.io, ranked every UK county and nation by the number of high-value winners – every prize of £1,000 or more – they returned for every 100,000 residents across the last 12 monthly draws.

Dorset came out on top, returning 4,717 high-value winners, or 590 for every 100,000 residents. Total prize winnings in the time studied soared to £14,292,000.
Surrey comes in second, with 582 winners per 100,000 people, and 7,264 in total. It’s one of four counties in the top ten to have a jackpot winner, with Cornwall having one, Suffolk having two, and Hampshire having one.
West Sussex came in third place, with 565 winners per 100,000 people, and 5,166 in total. The average amount won over the time studied was £3,134.
Cornwall took fourth on 540 per 100,000 people, with 3,162 total winners.
Taking fifth place is East Sussex, with 514 winners per 100,000 people, and 4,338 in total.
“Greater London produced the most winners in raw terms but drops to 36th when you adjust for population, which tells you something about how many UK residents hold bonds outside the capital. Additionally, the number of rural counties at the top suggests these areas hold more bond value per head, which points to wealth distribution as much as anything else.”
