Financial services support company The SimplyBiz Group has become the lead sponsor of the Armed Forces Art Society.

Formed in 1925, the society is for both retired and current service members. The idea of two retired officers, it was originally open to Royal Navy and Royal Air Force officers by invitation only.  Dormant during WWII, it was reformed in 1947 and made open to all ranks. It currently has around 200 members.

Joint Managing Director of the SimplyBiz Group Matt Timmins said: “When approached by the Chair of the Armed Forces Art Society, we were only too pleased to contribute financially and also help to promote the good work that the society does by promoting and displaying the art work in our corporate material. We are very proud to be supporting the Society, which was borne out of WWI, when many professional artists had their careers interrupted by active service. Today, the Society continues to recognise the artistic skill of serving and ex-serving personnel.”

Chairman of the Armed Forces Art Society Tim King said: “We are thrilled with the sponsorship provided by the SimplyBiz Group. The compatibility of the profession of arms and the pursuit of the arts has long been recognised, and we are proud to note that our membership has flourished over recent years. As part of our work we also support Services-related charities for whom art has provided an outlet and, with The SimplyBiz Group’s sponsorship, we look forward to being able to continue with this aid.”
