CMC Markets is helping to bring back the America’s Cup (hopefully)!

CMC, a provider of spread betting and CFD trading, has just announced its teaming up with Land Rover BAR as an Official Partner to help bring the America’s Cup home.

Bringing home the America’s Cup?

You might not know this, but apparently the America’s Cup is the oldest international trophy in world sport. It pre-dates the modern Olympic Games (not the original one of course, which does go back a fair way), the Ryder Cup and the World Cup. It started in 1851 with a race around the Isle of Wight and, well typically, Britain has yet to win it.

Now we’ve got the 35th opportunity to give it a go and the challenge has already started to win the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series as things kicked off last week in Portsmouth. This is the first stage of the competition which finishes in Bermuda in 2017.

CMC’s CEO Peter Cruddas said: “We are delighted to announce our sponsorship of Land Rover BAR to compete in the America’s Cup over the next three years. The team has a true pioneering spirit and demonstrates constant innovation, matching the ethos that CMC Markets stands for in the trading industry. This is a first class sporting event with some of the world’s best sportsmen and the most innovative technology for boats around the world and we’re proud to be part of the UK’s historic chance at a Cup victory.”

Team Principal of Land Rover BAR Ben Ainslie said: “It is fantastic for us to have CMC Markets on board as Official Partner, I’m sure we can help them build their brand around the world through our challenge to bring the Cup home.”
