The Income Protection Task Force (IPTF) is delighted to announce the release of the 7Families revisited series. This new initiative marks twelve years since the renowned 7Families project first began, offering a fresh perspective on the real-life impact of income protection through the voices of three of the original families.

Originally launched in 2014, the 7Families project aimed to highlight the importance of income protection insurance by sharing the journeys of seven UK families affected by serious illness or injury.

The project sought to raise awareness, demonstrate the value of protection insurance, and offer support to those facing financial challenges due to loss of income. By providing real-life case studies, 7Families brought to life the human stories behind statistics and was a reminder for advisers and insurers of the impact of their work.

Revisiting three original families

In this new series, IPTF has revisited three families from the original project: Nikki Thornley, Graeme Snell, and Tracey Clarke. Each family shares their reflections and experiences a decade on.

As with the original campaign, their stories emphasise the ongoing human side of insurance, showcasing resilience, hope, and the importance of financial and emotional support during challenging times.

The 7Families revisited series launches with a hero film (available here from Monday: https://iptf.co.uk/7-families-revisited/ )and will be followed by short films focusing on each of the revisited families. All content will be available on the IPTF website and YouTube channel, making it accessible for industry professionals, including advisers and insurers.

IPTF encourages advisers to use these films and stories in their advice conversations, helping clients appreciate the real-life value of income protection. The series offers practical resources for illustrating the difference insurance can make, fostering more meaningful dialogue and understanding.
