The UK seems to be rapidly heading for a constitutional crisis as the collapse of Boris Johnson’s government continues apace. With six more ministers, including Opperman, having announced their resignations in the past two hours ( and it’s only just after 8am!) the writing is clearly on the wall for a Prime Minister who, as we publish this, remains defiantly in post. In total, the BBC is reporting this morning that more than 50 ministers in have now resigned following the collapse in confidence in the PM after the Chris Pincher debacle.
There is clearly much more to come in this fast moving situation, as the news of resignations changes minute by minute.
