Canopius, a leading global specialty (re)insurer, has appointed Lucy Bennett as Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). She takes up her role with immediate effect and will report to Ceri Royal, Head of HR, Business Partnering and Organisational Development.
In her new role, Lucy will be responsible for elevating Canopius’ EDI programme as the business works towards the goals set out in its EDI action plan. Lucy will also manage Canopius’ relationships with a growing panel of members’ bodies and charities which represent and support different societal groups, including the Business Disability Forum, broadening the specialist network of advisors which help to shape Canopius’ continued progression in the EDI space.
Lucy joins from Surrey Police, where she served as Head of Diversity and Inclusion responsible for the Force’s delivery of its EDI strategy. In this role she worked with a range of stakeholders and cross-functionally with the Police Force to ensure inclusion and diversity were made central to decision making. Lucy also developed the Force’s response to the Police Race Action Plan. Prior to this, Lucy served at Moving Ahead, a social impact organisation specialising in improving workplace diversity and inclusion.
