Launched in 2021, L&G’s ONIX digital quote, apply and renewal platform represented a first in the market, offering self-service for all Group Life and Income Protection policies covering from three individuals with no maximum, including a 3-year unit rate guarantee.
L&G’s Group Protection business today reports further ‘record-breaking’ ONIX performance in 2025 with 16% growth in overall application volumes, together with a continuing increase in online renewals – 144% on the previous year – reinforcing ongoing efficiencies and simplicity for advisers, as the in-force portfolio continues to grow.
SME growth via ONIX is particularly noteworthy; four in five new policies written in 2025 were covering fewer than 250 individuals. ONIX has redefined the group protection market, helping the provider and the many intermediaries they support, to expand their reach into previously untapped areas, such as small businesses.
In terms of ONIX’s performance, 2025 also saw:
- Submitted new business quote volumes up 2%, in 2025
- Life Assurance new business Annual Premium Equivalent (APE) up 5%
- Group Income Protection new business APE up 8%
NEW – Instant quotations for LLP members and Equity Partners, from just 3 individuals
Intermediaries can now also obtain new business quotes through ONIX, for Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) members and Equity Partners. Quotes will be instant, accessible for businesses with as few as three individuals to cover, together with cheaper rates in comparison to manual quotes and will come with a three-year unit rate guarantee.
Additionally, LLP members and Equity Partners may be included in the same quote as their employees or quoted on a standalone basis, which reduces lengthy administration for the customer. This follows a move by L&G earlier last year to merge its partner policy terms with its employee policy terms, allowing for combined policies.
