SimplyBiz strengthens Consumer Duty support with monitoring focussed event

SimplyBiz has announced a further strengthening of its extensive Consumer Duty support for advisers with a second ‘Compliance Clinic’, focussed upon effective supervision and monitoring.

The virtual event, which takes place on Monday 3rd of June from 2pm, is part of ongoing series of bi-monthly Clinics, joining a dedicated online hub, face-to-face and virtual events, regular bulletins, a series of guides, focused audits, and access to relevant tech solutions, to form SimplyBiz’s Consumer Duty programme for members.  Its April Compliance Clinic, which explored ways in which advisers could prepare for the upcoming Consumer Duty Annual Report, attracted over 1,500 bookings.

Hosted by SimplyBiz’s Director of Regulatory Consultancy and Advice Quality, Jennifer Peaty, and Head Compliance Operations, Jill Hamilton, the 60-minute session will provide an overview of what constitutes effective monitoring and supervision in a regulated environment, and how this can both mitigate risk within advice firms, and provide key Consumer Duty MI.

The Clinic will provide an hour’s worth of CPD and covers regulatory expectations and supervisory requirements, the recruitment process, attaining and maintaining competence, training and testing, certification requirements and how this links to some key areas of Consumer Duty MI.

Jennifer Peaty, Director of Regulatory Consultancy and Advice Quality at SimplyBiz, commented: “The Compliance Clinic which took place in April, looking how advisers should be preparing for the submission of their first Consumer Duty Annual Report, generated some fantastic feedback and received over 1,500 bookings.  We know how much our members value these Clinics, which take a deep dive into the practical application of Consumer Duty, and believe they make an excellent addition to our existing comprehensive programme of support.

“Effective supervision and monitoring is a key element of successfully adhering to Consumer Duty regulation, and we’ve built this event to ensure that delegates leave with a deeper understanding of the FCA expectations in this area, how it applies in practice, and the resources available to support them at each step.”
