#ChooseToChallenge #IWD2021
Today we’re really excited to be celebrating International Women’s Day 2021. Throughout the day on this website, we will be celebrating women’s achievements across the spectrum of UK financial services as we publish a range of articles written by women in financial services and asset management.
As part of today’s campaign, we’ll be highlighting the activities of many of women who are leading the way across this industry in their areas of expertise, influencing change, inspiring others and challenging boundaries in so many different ways.
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
The day has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland. Prior to this the Socialist Party of America, United Kingdom’s Suffragists and Suffragettes, and further groups campaigned for women’s equality. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.

#choosetochallenge
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day campaign is #choosetochallenge. The financial world certainly thrives on challenge, being constantly aware of the need to adapt to a changing world. As we highlight the huge part which women play across the industry, we hope to encourage and inspire young women to see a successful and rewarding career for themselves in the world of financial services and asset management.
As the campaign leaders have highlighted, a challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequity. We can choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let’s all #ChooseToChallenge.
