Warsaw leads the list of cities where hotels cost less than Airbnb flats offering hotel stays at the lowest average price of $46.00.
Experts at Deluxe Holiday Homes analyzed 23 most searched European capitals on Google to uncover cities where hotel stays including breakfast are cheaper than renting a flat or a room. Data from Airbnb and local tourism&travel websites was used to calculate average room rates and hotel rates including breakfast. The objective was to highlight and rank the cities where staying at hotels is cheaper than renting a room or flat.
Warsaw leads the list of cities where hotels cost less than Airbnb flats offering hotel stays at the lowest average price of $46.00, including breakfast. This rate is significantly cheaper than the combined costs of room rentals and breakfast, which is 65% more expensive. Moreover, Warsaw’s average hotel price is appx. 64.89% less than Amsterdam’s and Dublin’s – the most expensive ones’.
2nd on the list of cities where hotels cost less than Airbnb flats is Bucharest, offering hotel stays at an average price of $48.00, inclusive of breakfast. Although the difference with Warsaw is only $2, it still affects the ranking.
Budapest and Prague offer hotel accommodations at an identical average rate of $63.00 claiming 3rd spot. Budapest’s average cost for room rental at $72 makes this rate a great deal. However, in Prague, the average cost for room and breakfast is the second-highest, just behind Amsterdam and Dublin.
Berlin’s hotel accommodations rank 4th on the list of cities where hotels cost less than Airbnb flats. At an average of $82.00 inclusive of breakfast, Berlin provides more value when compared to room rentals which are a bit more expensive (see the table below).
Vienna ranks 5th with hotel stays averaging at $90.00, including breakfast. In contrast, the combined costs of room rentals and breakfast are almost twice as high. Vienna’s hotel prices are approximately 10% more affordable than those in Brussels.

Rome offers 7th cheapest hotel accommodations on the list at $99.00, inclusive of breakfast. This offers savings compared to room rentals at $122.91. Among the cities listed, Rome’s hotel prices sit right in the middle, offering a balance of cost and comfort.
Copenhagen’s hotel accommodations are 8th on the list of cities where hotels cost less than Airbnb flats with an average of $101.00. This rate is significantly cheaper than room rentals. Copenhagen’s average hotel rate is just $2.00 more than Rome’s, showcasing its competitive pricing.
Dublin and Amsterdam round off the ranking with hotel stays at an identical average of $131.00, including breakfast. Both are cheaper than the costs of room rentals, meanwhile, Amsterdam stands out with the room rentals at $188.83, making it the highest among the cities listed.
