Employees from MetLife UK, the employee benefits and protection provider, and life insurance broker Reassured jointly raised a total of over £36,000 (£36,250) for their shared children’s charity partner Winston’s Wish. They took on the well-known Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge – a near marathon (24.5 miles), with three peaks thrown in for fun, all under 12 hours.
More than 80 volunteers from MetLife UK and Reassured, joined by others from the charity itself, climbed the Pen Y Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough summits on Saturday, 20th September, scaling a total of just over 5,200 feet and covering a 24.5 mile distance.
The team from Reassured raised £16,250 – which the company will match with an extra 30p in the pound – while MetLife UK raised £20,000 for the charity.
Winston’s Wish was set up in 1992 to help bereaved children and those who care for them. Last year, the charity helped more than 95,000 children and young people – up to and including the age of 25 – through its live chat, phone lines, websites, and other services.
Reassured Chief Customer Officer and Co-Founder, Laura Benton, who took part in the challenge, said: “This is a charity that is close to my heart. The work they do with bereaved children and the people who care for them is invaluable. We are proud to have them as our charity partner and to support them.”
