As the Renters’ Rights Bill returns to Parliament for further debate this Wednesday, 22ndOctober, Propertymark is urging those operating in the profession to take proactive steps now in anticipation of the most significant reform to the private rented sector in England for a generation.
With legislation progressing and momentum building, the Bill is set to overhaul key areas of tenancy law, landlord responsibilities, and tenant rights. While the final timeline for implementation remains unconfirmed, the direction of change is clear, and Propertymark is calling on agents not to delay.
Nationwide Roadshow announced
To support the sector, Propertymark has launched a nationwide Renters’ Rights Bill Roadshow, a series of free, in-person events designed to give agents, landlords and property professionals the practical tools and clear guidance needed to prepare for the months ahead.
The Renters’ Rights Bill Roadshow is open to agents, their teams, and clients. Each session includes policy briefings, panel debates, and a live Q&A, covering the full scope of the Bill and the practical steps needed for readiness.
Key topics include:
- Ending of Section 21 “no-fault” evictions and replacement possession grounds
- Transition to periodic tenancies and new notice periods
- Rent increase processes, evidence requirements, and timelines
- Rules on pets in rental properties
- Property standards and compliance expectations
- Student lets and implications for seasonal turnover
These events are designed to help agents cut through speculation, communicate with confidence, and lead the way in supporting clients.
Nathan Emerson, CEO of Propertymark, comments:
