The Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce that its founder and major donor; St. James’s Place (SJP) has gifted £500,000, for the purpose of improving financial wellbeing for disadvantaged people and communities across the UK and overseas.

Funding will be used to support a range of charity partners to deliver initiatives which help individuals build financial resilience, gain confidence, and access vital support during times of crisis. The award is aimed at helping to address the pressing and increased demand for support experienced in recent times and widening inequalities in financial wellbeing.

The Foundation continues to lie at the heart of SJP and is integral to the company’s culture. The gift has enabled the Foundation to support a new funding theme complementing the important work SJP delivers more widely in relation to financial wellbeing, such as delivering financial education programmes, volunteering and advisers sharing money management skills and providing pro-bono financial advice and training. The grant will now provide additional resources to allow the Foundation to expand its support for charities delivering practical, targeted support where it is needed most – reaching people who are often overlooked and underserved.

Commenting on behalf of SJP, Director of Corporate Real Estate, Responsible Business & the SJP Charitable Foundation; Peter Alford said: “This donation helps our Foundation extend financial wellbeing support to disadvantaged individuals and communities, underpinning our belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to feel secure and confident in managing their money and demonstrating our commitment to doing what we can to help achieve this outcome. We look forward to sharing news on the impact of this donation with you in the future.”

Chair of Trustees; Andrew Humphries added: “This generous contribution means that the Foundation will establish a new core Financial Wellbeing theme and provides funding for the first three years. A donation on this scale will deepen support for our charity partners and reach more individuals and communities, particularly those facing the greatest barriers and where our grants can have the most impact.”
