Here’s what Octopus Apollo VCT invests in

I

For professional advisers and paraplanners only. Not to be relied upon by retail clients.

Like any venture capital trust (VCT), Apollo invests in early stage companies. But ‘early stage’ companies can be at very different points in their maturity.

The team behind Apollo select companies at the more mature end of the VCT spectrum.

These businesses have successfully brought a product or service to market, and have a growing and diversified customer base. Often these companies will sell to other businesses and have contracted revenues.

You’ll find examples of these kinds of companies in this flyer.

There’s Rotolight, a company making cutting-edge photographic lighting for the BBC, ITV’s Dancing on Ice and Disney.

There’s also SimplyCook, a meal kit company with a business model that gives it unique advantages over competitors.

You’ll also read about one business whose software is powering multichannel retailers like Brompton Bikes and Dove, and another company set up by four former NHS workers.

Key VCT risks:

  • The value of a VCT investment, and any income from it, can fall as well as rise. Investors may not get back the full amount they invest.
  • Tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and may change in the future.
  • Tax reliefs depend on the VCT maintaining its VCT-qualifying status.
  • VCT shares are by their nature high risk, their share price may be volatile and they may be hard to sell.

VCTs are not suitable for everyone. Any recommendation should be based on a holistic review of your client’s financial situation, objectives and needs. We do not offer investment or tax advice.
