Square Mile Makes Two Senior Hires within its Research & Consulting Team

Square Mile confirms two senior appointments to its 20-strong Research & Consulting Team, with Ittan Ali joining the firm as Research Manager and Martin Ward as Senior Investment Research Analyst.

Ittan will be primarily responsible for the analysis of alternatives and specialist strategies, while Martin will focus on UK equity income, European equity and fixed income funds.

Ittan brings over 20 years’ experience both as an analyst and portfolio manager covering all major asset classes for both retail and institutional clients. He joins Square Mile from Collidr where, as Head of Research, he led fund analysis with a particular ESG focus and was responsible for client portfolio management. Prior to this, he held senior portfolio manager roles at Sandaire and Maxcap Partners (now Holbein Partners), both multi-family offices, running multi-asset mandates for a diverse ultra-high net worth client base. His earlier roles include senior analyst at Utilico, covering emerging market infrastructure, co-lead manager of a global equity mandate at Majedie Asset Management and quantitative analyst at Schroders.

Martin has been working in financial services for over 13 years. Prior to joining Square Mile he worked at Coutts where he was a senior fund analyst spanning both equity and fixed income strategies. He was previously Head of Fund Research at Punter Southall Wealth where he worked for over decade, joining initially as an investment assistant at Psigma Investment Management prior to its merger with Punter Southall Financial Management.

John Monaghan, Square Mile’s Research Director, said, “Martin and Ittan bring a very impressive blend of fund analysis and portfolio management expertise, gained during their respective careers at prominent investment institutions. Their highly credible track records of identifying strategies that deliver on their promise of meeting expected outcomes will add additional, complementary resource to our already talented Research & Consulting Team, which is entirely focussed on helping investment advisers make better informed decisions.”
