Unique Financial expands its director team announcing new Development Director

Unique Financial Planning has announced that Mike Gummerson has joined as Development Director as part of its continued expansion.

In his new role Gummerson, who joins as a co-director after eight years as Openwork’s Business Development Director, will be spearheading the growth of the group’s advice proposition via both acquisitions and recruitment.

Unique currently boasts 30 advisers working from four locations in the south and the south west of England, and has embarked on an ambitious strategy to grow its investment, protection and mortgage advice businesses.

Gummerson, who previously worked at both Prudential and Axa during a career spanning more than three decades, and spent a period running his own consultancy, will be vital to the business as it looks to support its advisers’ growth and development.

His hire follows the appointment of former Openwork director Philip Martin, who joined Unique Financial in 2018 to work alongside founder Stewart Williams.

Stewart Williams, CEO of Unique Financial, commented: ‘Mike joins the business at a pivotal time for our ambitious expansion plans. His long experience supporting adviser firm development and driving growth will be key to our future success’.

Mike Gummerson said: ‘I am delighted to be joining Stewart and Philip as a co-director of Unique Financial. We have a clear focus on firm acquisition, adviser recruitment and development to support our plans, and I look forward to working with our advisers to achieve them’.
