All the leaves are brown
As busy advisers, you’ve certainly got rather a lot on your plate as the autumn leaves start to fall and the skies turn grey. One of the most important budget speeches for many a year will be revealed just after we go to print with this edition of IFA Magazine. Rumour-mongering has been rife that we’re set to see changes to IHT, BPR, CGT as well as employer NICs and changes to pensions – any of which will likely have significant impacts for your clients’ financial plans and the business of financial planning. Busy times ahead for sure.
And another sure thing is that with the £22bn black hole to repair, Reeves has quite a job on her hands if she’s to keep things on track without ruffling too many feathers along the way. By the time you read this edition of IFA Magazine, it’s likely that all the budget details will not only have been revealed but dissected a million times. In our Budget special online, you’ll find all the analysis and thinking as it relates to the world of financial planning on https://ifamagazine.com/category/budget-2024/
And then there’s the US election on November 5th – again one of the most significant for years. Whoever wins, we’ll be doing our best to try and clarify what the new Presidency will mean for markets, for financial plans and what advisers need to look out for in our content on the IFA Magazine website throughout November.
More questions than answers
That’s why it’s so important to talk, to get the viewpoints of different experts working across the spectrum of financial services – something that my team and I are particularly fortunate to do as part of our work here at IFA Magazine.
For this month’s cover feature on page 5, we had a really interesting chat with PIMCO’s Ryan Blute and Terry Oh about current opportunities in Fixed Income. With the Fed, the Bank of England, the ECB and other central banks loosening monetary policy in an attempt to stimulate their economies and put inflation back in its box for now, it’s a particularly exciting time for fixed income specialists as Blute and Oh make clear.
On page 14, you’ll see that we’ve also been talking to Gravis’ Matt Norris about the considerable opportunities in the evolving property markets – and the value in REITs in particular. It’s well worth a read IMHO.
Congratulations go to Philippa Hann, the newly appointed CEO at Paradigm Norton Financial Planning. Taking over from Barry Horner, she has big boots to fill but, as you’ll see in our conversation with Philippa on page 28, she’s more than ready to get stuck in.
Also this month, it’s the last of our popular three-part series on writing great suitability reports. On page 42, you’ll see the final words of wisdom from our three fabulous experts – Mel Holman, Caroline Stuart and Damian Davies. Big thanks to the three of you!
But there’s a load more great stuff in store for you across the 52 pages of this edition. We hope you find plenty that’s of interest and hope you’ll come visit us soon on www.IFAMagazine.com for all the latest news and views.
