Capital Group launches its flagship global equity strategy as an OEIC in the UK

Capital Group’s New Perspective launches as an OEIC, enabling greater access for UK investors to a global equity strategy that has thrived on change

Capital Group, one of the world’s leading active investment managers with over £2.1 trillion in asset under management, has launched its flagship global equity strategy as an Open-Ended Investment Company (OEIC) in the UK.

The launch of Capital Group UK – New Perspective Fund (NPF UK) can enable UK investors to capitalise on extensive transformational changes in the world economy which more than 60% of UK financial intermediaries agree are occurring, according to Capital Group research.

NPF UK is based on a time-tested strategy built for an evolving world. It employs bottom-up research to identify and invest in multinational companies we believe offer strong growth opportunities and resilience capable of driving and benefiting from global change.

Steve Smith, Equity Investment Director, Capital Group, comments: “Change in the global economy is constant, but the current landscape stands out due to a unique blend of numerous structural shifts happening all at once. In this new era, investment strategies like New Perspective offer the flexibility to navigate market shifts unrestricted by sector, theme, or style, to capture a broad opportunity set and new reality of investing.”

Breadth of investment opportunities

  • UK intermediaries acknowledge a confluence of megatrends are reshaping the global economy. However, 71% consider a single megatrend – artificial intelligence – as the best investment opportunity for the next 12 to 24 months.
  • Other megatrends—such as energy transition (13%), healthcare innovation (9%), and evolving globalisation (6%)—could be being overlooked.

Increased confidence in equities

  • Overall, UK intermediaries have a positive investment outlook. 58% plan to increase the amount invested over the next 12 months.
  • Investors are most confident with investing in equities (56%) and 61% of those expect to boost equity allocations in the coming year.
  • Within equities, multinational companies are viewed by 71% of intermediaries as offering strong growth prospects over the coming decades.

Chris Miles, Head of UK Financial Intermediaries, Capital Group, adds: “Our research shows that 70% of intermediaries consider it difficult to find an equity fund that can demonstrate its ability to invest through market cycles and periods of uncertainty. At Capital Group, we are dedicated to ensuring UK intermediaries have access to durable, time-tested investment strategies in their quest to achieve their clients’ long-term financial goals, and we believe the launch of New Perspective OEIC fund, based on a strategy with a 51-year history, could fill that gap.”
