Jupiter Fund Management today announces that Alex Savvides has started in his role as Lead Investment Manager, UK Equities

.Alex joins the UK equities desk, where he will be managing the £1.1 billion Jupiter UK Special Situations Fund (“the Fund”), which will be renamed as the Jupiter UK Dynamic Equity Fund on 11 October, 2024.

He will be supported in managing the Fund by Stephanie Geary and Siddharth Sukumar, as investment manager and investment analyst, respectively, who joined in July this year.

Alex joins from J O Hambro Capital Management where, from its launch in 2008, he managed the J O Hambro Capital Management UK Dynamic Equity Fund and consistently delivered strong performance. The J O Hambro UK Dynamic Equity Fund was ranked top decile over one and three years and top quartile over 5 and 10 years. Since inception, it also had top decile performance and was ranked 6th in the Lipper All Company universe (as at the end of December 2023).

Alex has over 20 years investment experience and in his previous role was responsible for managing around £2.3bn of client assets in his strategy. We therefore believe that he is well positioned to deliver on the investment outcomes of the Jupiter UK Dynamic Equity Fund.

Alex will be taking over management of the Fund from Ben Whitmore, who, with the support of his team, will work collaboratively with his successors during the handover until at least 31 October, 2024. This will enable a smooth transition across all of our client portfolios as Ben relinquishes his investment responsibilities to his appointed successors.

Fund name change

The name of the Fund is changing to Jupiter UK Dynamic Equity from Jupiter UK Special Situations to better reflect Alex’s long-standing investment strategy and to show that there is continuity with his investment management approach.

The Fund’s current investment objective and policy is not changing. Any changes made to the portfolio by Alex and his team will be made as part of the ongoing active management of the Fund and any associated transaction costs will be borne by the Fund. In the longer term, the investment strategy of the Fund will be subject to our regular review process and, should any changes be made as a result, these will be separately communicated in full and will be subject to regulatory and investor approval as necessary.

Kiran Nandra, Head of Equities at Jupiter, said:

“Alex Savvides is a welcome addition to our UK Equities offering, we look forward to seeing him work with the investment team utilising his specialist knowledge and experience in the area. His performance and his previous Fund’s track record are testament to his ability to deliver long-term returns to clients. We are particularly excited about his skillset at a time when the market is reinitiating its engagement with UK PLCs. We have a fantastic UK equities desk at Jupiter with varied and compelling strategies and I am excited to see Alex at the helm of the renamed Jupiter UK Dynamic Equity Fund.”

Alex Savvides said:

“I am very excited to be joining Jupiter at this important time in its evolution. Jupiter has an illustrious history in developing and nurturing active investment talent and is one of the most well-respected names in UK asset management. Special situations and value investing underpin my investment philosophy. Whilst my approach to investing is not dissimilar to the strategy’s current investment approach – a highly disciplined and active style focused on undervalued UK companies – I believe we can build on this strategy’s legacy by blending in the proven stock selection, stewardship and engagement approach that I have employed successfully for clients over many years. The UK market offers considerable opportunities for patient, motivated and disciplined investors to produce good investment returns. I am committed to delivering to the best of my abilities for Jupiter’s clients.”
