AIC members have welcomed two new board members, with immediate effect, while also saying goodbye to two long-standing directors.
The Annual General Meeting held on 21 January, voted to appoint Simon Crinage, Managing Director, Head of Investment Trusts at JPMorgan Asset Management, and Harry Morgan, Head of Private Investment Management UK, Thomas Miller Investment, to the AIC board. They will be replacing David Barron and Gill Nott, who have both retired after ten years of service. Meanwhile Peter Arthur and David Thorp have been re-elected to the board, and will remain Deputy Chairmen, along with Chris Russell.
Andrew Bell, the Association of Investment Companies Chairman, said: "We are delighted to welcome Simon and Harry to the board, both of whom have been involved with the investment company sector since the 1980s. Simon brings an experienced and practical insight to the challenges and opportunities the industry faces which, together with Harry’s experience in wealth management and his experience as a seasoned investor in investment companies, will be valuable assets to the AIC board as we move forward into 2014.
The departing members, David Barron and Gill Nott, he said, had provided valued service since 2004. “Both have brought incisive minds and wide ranging experience to the board's discussions, as well as specialist expertise in the fields of investment management groups, regulatory trends and VCTs. Their counsel will be missed, but we look forward to keeping in touch.”
Simon Crinage has been involved with investment companies since 1984. Simon has experience in a number of areas, focusing on investment trust administration, marketing and product development, board management and business management. He has previously held a non-executive director post on the board of Fleming Managed Income, now part of JPMorgan Elect plc, and is currently president and director of JPMorgan China Region Fund, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange listed closed-ended fund.
Harry Morgan has worked as a wealth manager since 1984, in a number of positions including Head of Private Clients Scotland at Newton Investment Management and Head of Investment Management at Adam & Company. Harry is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment, and has held a position as a non-executive director on the board of Mid Wynd International Investment Trust plc since May 2012. He is also an active investor in investment company shares, and has had a close interest in the sector throughout his career.
